Reimaging Workplace Equality

Project Accelerate is a targeted extension of the Girls Inc. Experience. It is designed to support young women through their next critical transitions-from high school through college and from college to career. The prime directive of Project Accelerate is to support diversity, equity, access, and inclusion for young women with historically-marginalized, intersecting identities by providing them with the resources and skills needed to achieve positions of power and influence; closing the wage gap’ and strengthening the social fabric. While also partnering with leaders in the corporate and social impact sector to reimagine hiring, development, promotion, and retention practices in order to dramatically increase the leadership trajectory of women.

The Problem

At the core of workplace gender inequality, pay inequity, and the leadership gap, there is a fundamental truth: unless systems and practices that historically limit and disadvantage women are redesigned to create new pathways and supports, there can be no meaningful change.

The Solution

A five-year impact goal that includes objectives and actions that:

  • Transform workplace culture to prioritize equity & foster the advancement of women to positions of influence.
  • Ensure young women’s educational attainment and skill development to position them for professional leadership roles in these improved working environments.

Change workplace systems to include:

  • The prioritization of equity and the transformation of practice and policies,
  • The realignment of power dynamics and the value placed on intersectionality, and
  • The emergence of a critical mass of engaged leaders, mentors, and possibility models
