2021 Year in Review
Through the celebrations and challenges of 2021, our focus remained the same: making the #GirlsIncDifference possible for more girls across Central Alabama.
In January, we extended the Rising Leaders Academy to provide virtual learners with supportive space to successfully complete the school year. When class wasn’t in session, girls participated in enriching opportunities like February’s Math Derby to flex their strong, smart, and bold skills.
March brought us together with Girls Night In, raising over $110k for Girls Inc. of Central Alabama while celebrating our girls, volunteers, supporters, community partners, and staff. The celebration continued in April as we cheered on the many girls who achieved Honor Roll at school. To empower their success, we hosted a College Panel in May where our teen girls learned and explored options for continuing their education.
After the school year ended, it was time for fun as Summer Camp kicked off in June! From adventure sports to science experiments, girls across seven camps found countless opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive in the supportive pro-girl environment at Girls Inc. of Central Alabama. The excitement continued in July, when we learned that Girls Inc. national was awarded ten million dollars to fund Project Accelerate! Eager to take on the challenge of reimagining workplace equality for women, we jumped for joy during August’s staff retreat.
Our girls found opportunities to take a stand to #StopAsianHate in September and served the community as volunteers during October’s Fiesta Festival. Inspired by these young leaders of tomorrow, we rallied together to #AccelerateHerFuture and raised over $28k for Giving Tuesday in November! Finally, December concluded a season of generosity as dozens of girls’ holiday wishes were fulfilled through our Giving Tree Program.
THANK YOU for helping us build the next generation of leaders in 2021. We look forward to another strong, smart, and bold year filled with impact and action!
