Featured Story: Family STEM Night at the Crestwood Center

SHARE

Girls Inc. Crestwood Center recently hosted a family STEM night, where girls got to experience the wonderful world of science, technology, engineering, and math with their families.

The event was a huge success, from up-close encounters with Birmingham Zoo animals to hands-on DIY biome crafting. It was a celebration of science and a testament to the power of bringing families together for a night of fun and learning.

Families discovered the intricacies of biomes, from rainforests to deserts, and everything in between. Together, they rolled up their sleeves and crafted DIY ecosystems, turning ordinary materials into miniature worlds of wonder. The event also featured a raffle for zoo tickets, courtesy of the Birmingham Zoo!

Family STEM night is part of a larger initiative by Girls Inc. to ensure that the entire family benefits from our programming directly. By actively involving parents and guardians, Girls Inc. is creating a supportive environment where enrichment becomes a shared experience – nurturing a love for STEM and personal growth that extends beyond the classroom at the Crestwood Center.

Shoutout to Highlands School and Birmingham Magic Youth Lacrosse for joining the fun! It was a great opportunity for girls and their families to bond and learn something new together. We’re excited to continue hosting events like this to ensure that both girls and their families benefit from the Girls Inc. Experience!
